7th Sept 2009                        had the 14th round hit of Tob Dhen Dhey’s Ata Sonam been a two pointer than the saa-karey (1 pointer), there could have been a different result of today’s 2nd semi final match. Or for that matter, had any of the other Tob Dhen Dhey’s two pointer hit had been a bull’s eye (three pointer) then Tob Dhen Dhey could have cancelled out the enough points to keep Namseycholing R from winning the second game set in the 2nd last round. As a team can complete only one game set in each round and with only one round left to complete the match, Namseycholing R became the 2009 finalists by the end of 14th round – being 2 game set ahead.

Tob Dhen Dhey’s loss was unexpected, having proved in earlier stages as one of the strongest contenders in the tournament. Tob bhutan-archeryDhen Dhey nearly equaled Namseycholing R’s 9th round game set in the 13th round, but Namseycholing R matched every one of their four hits in the round. And then Namseycholing R hit 2 bull’s eye and 2 kareys in the 14th to gain five points more than what two kareys and one saa-karey of Tob Dhen Dhey scored. It was truly a loss by a point, as even a round could have Tob Dhen Dhey equal the one game set as they already had 5 points from 13th round – only two points were needed. But it was not meant to be.

Namsel Construction also nearly completed a game set in the 7th round itself, but during then Tob Dhen Dhey kept them in check. It was nearest that they got to completing a game set.

In total Namseycholing R had to hit 45 kareys to wrest two game sets from their opponents – Tob Dhen Dhey hit 39 kareys and Namsel Construction 41 kareys. Namseycholing R entered as the only wild card entrant into the semis – the only joker and the last of the tournament. It seems that the last joker get the last laugh.

If anyone has not seen Namseycholing R play before, then one can come to Changlimithang on the Sept 12 during the finals of the 13th Yangphel Open Archery Tournament. They would play against Quality Gases Pvt. Ltd and the winner of the last semi final match tomorrow between the teams of Phoja, Nazhoen Charo and Thu Tob.
